I absolutely love working on projects that only require one color of yarn and row repetitions. This blanket is so easy to complete, and the end results are absolutely beautiful. You can make it in any size you want, too!
I made this blanket for a friend of mine. She is welcoming a beautiful baby girl into this world soon, and she asked that gifts be purchase/made in a neutral color palette for future babies. I absolutely love yarn color I chose for this. There’s something about a neutral color with lots of texture that pairs so well together, don’t you think?
Let’s get to crocheting!
Here are the supplies that you will need to complete this crochet pattern:
- 3.5mm crochet hook
- Yarn I used: Loop & Threads Brushed Rainbow, 100% Polyester, size 4 (medium)
- Color: Glacier Grey.
- You can use any size 3 or 4 yarn of choice for this blanket. Mine was labeled a size 4, however it felt very small and comparable to a size 3 sport weight.
Important details:
- Level: Easy
- Gauge: 13 st’s x 13 rows = 3×3 inches (7.62cm)
- You can make this blanket in any size.
- You will need about 2g of yarn for every square inch of blanket you make.
- Stitch Key: Ch- chain, St- stitch, Sc- single crochet, PUFF-puff stitch, Yo- yarn over
- Puff Stitch Instructions: Yarn over hook, insert into st, yo, pull up a loop, yo, insert hook into same stitch, yo, pull up a loop, yo and pull through all loops on hook.
Before starting the pattern, I recommend crocheting a sample to get the hang of it! Here is the tutorial:
The Written Pattern
TO START: Ch any even number of chains (this will be the width of your blanket).
Row 1: Sc into the 2nd ch from your hook, then sc into every st to the end of the chain. (you should have an odd number of stitches). Turn. (no turning ch ever: crochet directly into the first st of every row)
Row 2-3: Sc into every st down the row, Turn
Row 4: Sc into the first 3 st’s. PUFF into the 4th st, then sc into the 5th st. Alternate PUFF, sc, until you get to the last 2 stitches of your row. Sc into those last 2 stitches. Turn
Row 5: Sc into every st down the row, Turn
Row 6: Sc into the first 4 st’s. PUFF into the 5th st, the sc into the 6th st. Alternate PUFF, sc, until you get to the last 3 stitches of your row. Sc into those last 3 stitches, Turn
Row 7: Sc into every stitch down the row, Turn
REPEAT rows 4-7 until you are happy with the length of your blanket.
Last 2 rows: sc into every stitch down the row, Turn/tie off.
FINISHED!
Tie/weave in any loose ends and feel free to block your blanket, or wash and dry according to your yarn instructions. If you’re using polyester like me, I washed in COLD water in my washing machine, and air dried it outdoors, although you CAN dry it in the machine on a DELICATE setting on COOL.
Thank you so much for being here, and I hope you enjoyed this crochet pattern! Happy Crocheting!
